EMMAUS HIGH SCHOOL SWIMMING AND DIVING AWARDS:  Most of these awards are presented at the End of Season Banquet.

ALL-State:  Pennsylvania High School Swim Coaches Association:  Coach Membership provides our swimmers and divers the ability to earn recognition with performances at the PIAA State Meet.  

EAST PENN CONFERENCE (EPC) All-Stars (2025-2026): The EPC recognizes the top 3 finishers in the District Meet as All-Stars for Diving, Relays, and Individual Events. These recognitions cannot be determined until both the AA and AAA District Championships have been completed and finishing times compiled.

EPC Scholar Athlete Nominee Criteria: Academics- 40%, i.e. GPA, Class Rank, SAT Scores, Participation in NHS, Merit Scholar, Athletics- 40%, i.e. All-State Honors, All-Conference, Co-Captain, Special AchievementsExtra-Curricular/Community Activities- 20%, i.e. Participation in school/community activities/sports

Most Improved: (diver/female/male) This award is given to the athlete who has improved the most from one year to the next. Examples include improving attendance, preparation, extra workouts, time in multiple events, placing in major meets, attitude, and sportsmanship.

Players Player: (female/male) This award is voted on by the athletes and is only awarded to one athlete on each team. In the event of a tie, the coach casts the final vote. This award is given to the athlete who best embodies the spirit of the team through actions.

Most Valuable: (diver/female/male) This award is given to the athlete who is most valuable to the team. Examples would be the athlete who performs where the team needs them, is always at practice, never or rarely late, prepared, leads by example, has good sportsmanship, pushes the team/teammates, cheers on teammates, and is consistent and successful.

Memorial Awards:

Gary Nonnemacher Award- Self-sacrifice award. Gary was primarily a diver for the Hornets in the late ‘70s and early ‘80s, yet from time to time when called to swim he answered. Gary was an athlete who persevered through the sport by never giving up and always finding more to help the team.

Tommy Gray Award: Tommy swam from 1999-2001. Tommy was a swimmer who always had a great time playing sports. His love of athletics was evident in swimming. This award is a sportsmanship award given to the athlete who best embodies team sportsmanship throughout the year.

Matt Kush Award- Matt swam from 1999-2001. Matt was a swimmer with great spirit and heart for the sport; quite simply Matt quietly led by example with hard work and dedication. This award is given to the athlete who lets his/her actions do the talking, yet always has the team's interests at heart.

John Gudikunst Award- Coach G coached at Emmaus HS for over 20 years from the 1980s-2000s. He was known as the funny assistant coach who related to so many of his athletes through humor, connectedness, and belief that they could make it from Lane 6 to becoming a District XI medalist or more. (sponsored by EMAC).
